Jerusalem, 8 November, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israeli police have arrested the primary suspect in the August 28 murder of Ahmad Shaqra in Jaffa as he attempted to re-enter the country at the Jordan River border crossing.
Shaqra was killed in a shooting on Jerusalem Boulevard, prompting an intensive investigation by the Tel Aviv Central Unit (YAMAR). Officers previously arrested two accomplices on the day of the incident and seized the getaway vehicle, leading to formal indictments.
The primary suspect, a Jaffa resident in his 20s, had fled to Jordan following the attack, triggering an international arrest warrant.
Investigators successfully linked evidence against all co-conspirators before apprehending the fugitive at the border. The suspect remains in custody and faces a formal detention extension hearing.
