Prosecutor’s Statement FiledOn August 8, 2026, and August 9, 2026, reports were received regarding two incidents that occurred at a store located on Balfour Street in the city of Bat Yam. The first was for attempted arson, and the second was for arson of the store, which caused property damage. Upon receiving the reports, Bat Yam station officers arrived at the scene, began collecting evidence and taking testimonies, and opened an investigation. As part of the investigation, the suspect in the act was located, and on October 20, 2026, the suspect (Bat Yam, 22) was arrested and transferred for investigation at the Bat Yam station, after which he was detained. Station detectives conducted a search of the suspect’s home, during which a hand grenade converted into an explosive device was found. Bomb disposal technicians from the Tel Aviv District were called to the scene, who handled the item and seized it in a controlled manner. Upon completion of the investigation and the formation of the evidentiary basis, a prosecutor’s statement was filed against the suspect.
