90-Year-Old Killed by Reversing Garbage Truck
Susanna Weisenberg, 90, was killed by a reversing garbage truck near Kibbutz Bror Hayil in southern Israel, prompting a police investigation.
Jerusalem, 30 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — A 90-year-old woman was killed Wednesday morning on Route 3525 after being struck by a garbage truck near Kibbutz Bror Hayil in southern Israel.
The victim was identified as Susanna Weisenberg, a member of the Sha’ar HaNegev Regional Council. According to initial reports, the truck, operated by a contractor providing waste-collection services to the regional council, was reversing when it struck her.
Magen David Adom emergency teams found Weisenberg unconscious on the road, without a pulse or signs of breathing, and suffering from severe multiple-system injuries. Paramedics performed medical examinations but were forced to pronounce her dead at the scene.
Police opened an investigation into the circumstances of the fatal accident. The Sha’ar HaNegev Regional Council said it was assisting the victim’s family and the Bror Hayil community following the tragedy.
