Jerusalem, 8 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israeli medical device startup Phantom GI has raised $5 million to develop a minimally invasive device that could help patients with blocked intestines avoid major surgery.
The Tel Aviv-based company’s PercStoma device is designed to create an opening from the intestine to the outside of the body, allowing waste to leave through a bag attached to the abdomen. The procedure is intended for patients who cannot undergo conventional surgery.
The funding round was led by Israel’s Pitango HealthTech, with participation from Israeli firms RAD Biomed and RUNI Ventures. The money will support development and initial U.S. clinical studies.
PercStoma is designed to be performed through a single needle puncture under local anesthesia, with a target procedure time of about 20 minutes.
