Jerusalem, 29 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) stressed Thursday that its investigation into suspected election-related offenses is focused on specific individuals and does not implicate an entire community.
The agency said its information originated from intelligence gathered under its legal mandate to identify foreign influence, not from any political party or political figure. Except for Judge Noam Sohlberg, no one outside the agency had access to the information before the elections ended.
The investigation remains ongoing, and public statements about the suspicions do not necessarily reflect the Shin Bet’s position, it said. Once completed, the findings will be submitted to the chairman of the Central Elections Committee for a decision.
The agency emphasized that only individuals found to have acted illegally would face action. With the committee chairman’s approval, the Shin Bet chief briefed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Gadi Eisenkot and Opposition Leader Yair Lapid on the suspicions.
