Competition Commissioner Publishes Agreed Order with Carmel Wineries
Israel's Competition Commissioner has proposed an agreed order with Carmel Wineries, defining it as a monopoly and major supplier under new regulations.
Jerusalem, 25 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Competition Commissioner published for public comment an agreed order with Carmel Wineries, under which Carmel will assume the provisions of the Competition Law’s monopoly chapter and will also be defined as a major supplier under the Food and Pharmaceuticals Law, requiring it to act in accordance with the obligations applicable to such suppliers.
The agreed order follows a June 9, 2026 announcement by the Competition Commissioner to Carmel Wineries stating she was considering declaring it a monopoly in the grape must and Kiddush wine markets, subject to a hearing.
