Energy Ministry Seeks Input on Financing Solar Power Model for Arab Households
Israel's Energy Ministry is seeking public input on a new financing model to increase solar power installations in Arab households, aiming to utilize 1,800 MW.
Jerusalem, 25 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Energy and Infrastructure Ministry is seeking public input on a new financing and support model for solar energy installation in Arab households, as part of an effort to accelerate solar adoption in Israeli-Arab society.
According to the ministry, more than 100,000 residential buildings across more than 50 Arab municipalities are suitable for solar energy systems under the “100,000 Roofs” program, representing a total potential of approximately 1,800 megawatts.
Currently, only about 43 megawatts are installed in Arab households, representing roughly 2% of the sector’s potential, compared to 6% realized in the residential sector among the general population.
