Jerusalem, 23 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — JERUSALEM — Israeli security forces uncovered a 25-meter-deep underground tunnel under excavation in the city of Qalqilya, the Israel Police announced.
A joint operation by the Samaria Crime Fighting Unit and Border Police forces targeted the site following intelligence leads. Officers discovered the incomplete shaft alongside the early excavations of a second tunnel. Search operations yielded a cache of weaponry, including an M16 rifle, a sniper rifle, ammunition, fertilizer used for explosives manufacturing, and digital equipment.
Four suspects were arrested at the scene and transferred for interrogation. Police confirmed proactive counter-terrorism operations will continue across the Samaria sector to dismantle illegal excavation infrastructure.
