Jerusalem, 14 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — A Beersheba District Court sentenced Shehadeh Abu Alqian, a resident of the Negev Bedouin diaspora, to 24½ years in prison for aiding the enemy during wartime, terrorist offenses, and weapons violations.

Abu Alqian acted on behalf of the Gaza-based Kataeb al-Mujahideen terrorist organization, gathering intelligence on Israeli military installations, security forces and troop movements.

Under instructions from his handlers, he enlisted in the Israel Defense Forces in May 2022 to collect intelligence from inside the military. Security forces arrested him just eight days after his enlistment, foiling the operation.

According to the amended indictment, Abu Alqian had previously stolen an M4 rifle from an IDF soldier and later helped transfer weapons, thousands of rounds of ammunition, and five grenades to Judea and Samaria for the terrorist organization. He also received a suspended sentence and a NIS 25,000 ($8,000) fine.
