Jerusalem, 24 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — JERUSALEM — Israeli forces eliminated Hamas Finance Department Head Muhammad Abu Alwan in an airstrike in Khan Younis, Gaza. After Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office announced the strike on Wednesday, the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) and the ISA (Israel’s anti-terror General Security Service) first revealed the details of the strike in a joint statement Thursday morning.
Abu Alwan managed budgeting across Hamas branches for a decade. Security officials confirmed he directed the transfer of over one billion NIS ($270+ million) during the conflict to sustain the group’s governance and operational infrastructure.
The joint statement noted Abu Alwan was actively attempting to rebuild military capabilities in violation of existing ceasefire arrangements when targeted. The IDF and ISA reaffirmed their commitment to systematically dismantling financial networks, money changers, and key operatives sustaining regional terror activities.
