Jerusalem, 16 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Chief Rabbis, Rabbi David Yosef and Rabbi Kalman Ber, have set the monetary amount for the traditional pre-Yom Kippur Kapparot redemption from sins ceremony at 30 NIS (approx. $8 USD) per person.
In a joint letter ahead of the Jewish Day of Atonement, the Chief Rabbis instructed that the collected funds be distributed to Torah and charitable organizations. They further urged the public to incorporate special prayers into holiday services, calling for the memory of fallen soldiers, the full recovery of those wounded in combat, and the continued success and protection of IDF troops and security forces.
