UK Green Party Approves Zionism Is Racism Resolution by 1,022 to 813
UK Green Party members voted to label Zionism a "racist ideology" at their Brighton conference, advocating for a single Palestinian state.
Jerusalem, 4 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The UK Green Party, led by Zack Polanski, who is Jewish, voted at its Brighton conference Sunday to adopt a motion declaring Zionism a “racist ideology,” by 1,022 votes to 813.
The Greens hold 4 seats in the House of Commons following the 2024 general election.
The motion calls for abolishing the > 🇮🇱🇦🇷”>State of Israel in favor of a “single democratic Palestinian state in all of historic Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital,” backs Palestinians’ “right to resistance and liberation,” and calls for removing Palestine Action from the UK’s list of proscribed organizations.
Members voted down an amendment to protect Jewish members that identify as Zionist from internal racism disciplinary procedures.
Tensions prompted party organizers to set up a discreet “safe room” with a separate entrance at the conference venue to protect attending Jewish members from protests.
The Jewish Greens group raised alarms regarding the motion’s impact. The group Progressive Judaism strongly condemned the adoption as antisemitic.
