Jerusalem, 20 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich met Tuesday with Rabbi Eli Sadan, head of the Bnei David pre-military academy in Eli and the spiritual mentor of retired Brig. Gen. Ofer Winter, chairman of the Amcha Yisrael party.

The urgent meeting followed internal polls that were received by Netanyahu and Smotrich on Monday and raised growing concerns that the right-wing bloc could lose the upcoming election. The surveys reportedly indicate a substantial risk that hundreds of thousands of votes could be wasted on small right-wing parties unlikely to cross the electoral threshold, including Amcha Yisrael.

In response, the two national camp leaders are intensifying their cooperation to prevent votes from being squandered on smaller factions. Netanyahu and Smotrich are working to consolidate the right-wing vote and maximize the bloc’s chances of winning the election.
