Jerusalem, 25 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday pledged to replace Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara before her official term expires if he wins the upcoming Knesset election.

Netanyahu’s government approved the AG’s dismissal on August 4, 2025, but the decision was frozen by the High Court of Justice.

In a radio interview on Sunday, Netanyahu was asked whether he would ensure Baharav-Miara’s removal if the right-wing bloc wins. “Of course she will be replaced,” he replied. When the interviewer clarified that the question concerned removing her before the end of her term, Netanyahu confirmed: “The answer is yes.”

Netanyahu described the attorney general’s conduct as a “parody” and said Israel needed a “real legal adviser.”

He argued that his government had advanced key appointments, including the heads of the Shin Bet security service and Mossad, despite opposition from Baharav-Miara and what he called the “deep state.”
