Migron Rises Again, 14 Years After Its Destruction
Fourteen years after its destruction, the Israeli community of Migron in Judea and Samaria has been reestablished on legally purchased land.
Jerusalem, 4 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israeli media reported Friday that Migron, an Israeli community in the Binyamin region of Judea and Samaria, has been reestablished 14 years after the Supreme Court ordered its evacuation. The return became public when the new site was connected to the power grid.
The new site is along Route 60, between Shiloh and Sha’ar Binyamin, just a few hundred meters from the original settlement. Its land was legally purchased and developed by the Binyamin Development Company. Residents engage in agriculture to maintain the land and strengthen the Israeli presence.
Migron was established in 1999 and grew to about 50 families and more than 250 residents. In 2012, the Supreme Court ordered its evacuation, ruling that it stood on privately owned Palestinian land. Dozens of families were evicted, and their homes were demolished. They were relocated to a new community nearby.
