Jerusalem, 22 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Jewish National Fund (JNF-KKL) has reached a compromise over a controversial grazing outpost near the Arab town of Majd al-Krum in the Galilee, moving the site about 400 meters away from the area of friction and replacing its personnel.
Instead of youths from Judea and Samaria, three local members of the Hashomer Hachadash volunteer organization will guard the site. The revised plan calls for no more than two tents for a goat herd, guards, and storage, compared with three larger tents under the previous arrangement.
JNF Chairman Eyal Ostrinsky said the grazing point is needed to help prevent forest fires and maintain security and safety for Jews and Arabs alike.
Protests erupted after tents were erected on JNF land near Majd al-Krum, amid concerns that the site could become an unauthorized political outpost. The herd will still be permitted to graze on JNF lands bordering the town.
