Jerusalem, 15 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Ambassador Mike Huckabee on Thursday evening posted on X a vehement denial of a report by Clash Report according to which the Trump administration is “pushing for a broad Israeli unity government in which Netanyahu would remain prime minister for up to two years before retiring from politics.”
The ambassador wrote: “This is absolutely NOT true. Not in the least. The U.S. government is NOT trying to manipulate Israel’s election or telling the Israeli PM what to do. Period. Full stop. I hope Clash Report retracts this fake news story.”
Clash Report cited a report in Israel Hayom that claimed the proposed coalition, involving Netanyahu’s Likud and Gadi Eisenkot’s party, would seek to end regional wars and secure peace agreements, particularly with Saudi Arabia. Eisenkot’s bloc would reportedly demand Netanyahu’s guaranteed retirement, the reversal of judicial reforms, and an inquiry into October 7.
