Jerusalem, 6 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee heard on Tuesday that 1,240 airline crew members from countries classified as hostile to Israel have entered the country, raising concerns over aviation security and screening procedures. The figures were presented during a committee discussion on measures to strengthen security at Israeli airports and protect civil aviation, following the FlyDubai attack.

Committee Chairman Boaz Bismuth said the discussion marked a significant change in Israel’s approach to aviation security, declaring that “the face of civil aviation in Israel will change from today.” The committee examined the potential security risks posed by foreign airline personnel entering Israel as part of their professional duties.

Lawmakers and security officials discussed tighter screening, background checks, and other measures intended to prevent hostile actors from exploiting aviation access.

The committee is expected to continue examining the issue and possible regulatory changes.
