Jerusalem, 1 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Col. (res.) Oren Solomon, who served as the Gaza Division’s combat operations manager on October 7, on Thursday sharply criticized former IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi over the military’s handling of the Hamas attack.

Solomon has argued that Halevi bore primary responsibility for the failures that morning and accused the military establishment of preventing his findings from being fully presented.

In earlier interviews, Solomon said the IDF’s senior command failed to grasp the scale of the invasion during the first hours and that critical forces were not properly coordinated.

He has also accused the military of attempting to suppress his conclusions after he led an investigation into the October 7 failures.

Solomon says he is prepared to take a polygraph test regarding his account. His allegations remain disputed and form part of an ongoing public debate over responsibility for the disaster.
