Secret Laser Shooting Israeli Tank Spotted in Lebanon
An IDF "Lion King" tank, featuring advanced laser targeting, was observed in Zawtar al-Sharqiyah, Lebanon, a development generating significant online.
Jerusalem, 9 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Lebanese social media has been discussing footage from the past 24 hours, showing an IDF tank in Zawtar al-Sharqiyah, a town overlooking the Litani River in Southern Lebanon, apparently sending laser beams in all directions through its turret.
The reports likely referred to the “Lion King” tank, which was considered classified until about a year ago, when the IDF disclosed that some Armored Corps tanks possess special capabilities, including detecting and locating enemy forces.
Details about the “Lion King” designation remain largely classified. In 2017, a senior Armored Corps officer said the unit was “expert in locating an enemy before he does anything.”
Only officers command “Lion King” tanks. Soldiers are selected after their basic training and then receive specialized training for their roles. Each tank brigade has one such company.
