Jerusalem, 3 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — IDF (Israel Defense Forces) soldiers from the 36th Division have operated in recent weeks to clear and neutralize two underground routes in the Ali al-Taher Ridge area in the security zone, achieving operational control of the ridge both above and below ground. Some terrorists were eliminated while others fled the area, and operations to neutralize the cleared underground infrastructure are ongoing.

The IDF said terrorists present inside the infrastructure had carried out attacks against Israel and IDF soldiers, and that their capability to do so from within the routes has now been neutralized.

The sites contained command centers, weapons storage rooms, generator rooms, living quarters, showers and a kitchen, enabling terrorists to manage combat and remain underground for extended periods. The military described the network as a strategic underground system built over two decades and funded and planned by Iran’s regime.
