Katz: Hamas Leaders Abroad Are in Israels Crosshairs
Defense Minister Israel Katz stated Hamas leaders abroad are targets, following the elimination of a northern Gaza commander, vowing no peace for October 7.
Jerusalem, 29 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Defense Minister Israel Katz warned Tuesday that Hamas leaders operating abroad are also targets for Israel, following the Elimination of the terror group’s northern Gaza brigade commander overnight.
“The IDF eliminated the commander of Hamas’s Northern Gaza Brigade overnight, as part of the ongoing series of operations against the terror leaders in Gaza,” Katz said in a video statement.
He added that “Hamas leaders abroad are also in the crosshairs,” warning that those responsible for the October 7, 2023, massacre would not be allowed to live peacefully.
Israel has repeatedly targeted Hamas leaders beyond Gaza. In September 2025, an Israeli strike in Doha, Qatar, targeted the group’s political leadership, killing six people but failing to eliminate its senior negotiators. Subsequent operations in Lebanon targeted commanders and financial officials. Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh was killed in Tehran in July 2024.
