Jerusalem, 28 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israeli Forces fired artillery shells near Beit Jinn, in the Damascus countryside. Two shells reportedly hit agricultural land between the town and the Red Hills.

The area, about 10 kilometers from the Israeli border, was targeted for the second night in a row. No casualties or major damage were reported.

The shelling comes amid increased Israeli military activity in southern Syria following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime on December 8, 2024. On August 22, the IDF said an Israeli drone strike near Beit Jinn targeted a suspected terrorist. Earlier that week, Israel also struck the Abu al-Duhur airbase in northwestern Syria.

Damascus has condemned the Israeli attacks as violations of Syrian sovereignty and the 1974 disengagement agreement.
