Jerusalem, 24 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The IDF and Shin Bet on Friday launched a targeted counterterrorism operation in Hebron and Halhul following a deadly shooting attack at the Yehuda Junction, which claimed the lives of two IDF soldiers, Staff Sgt. Ron Yonatan Roitman and Sgt. Yuval Shai.
Led by the Yehuda Regional Brigade, the multi-day mission deploys elite units, including Duvdevan, Maglan, Paratroopers, and Givati special forces, alongside Border Police and intelligence agents. Forces are executing a methodical, house-by-house sweep to dismantle terrorist infrastructure, locate weapons caches, and interrogate suspects.
A military cordon has been imposed on the area. Residents can only exit through three designated checkpoints subject to security screenings. Local sources report that scores of families have been evacuated to facilitate the ongoing searches.
Security officials emphasize that the surge will remain confined to a strict operational timeline.
