Jerusalem, 30 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Four Givati fighters from the Rotem Battalion were sentenced to 10 days in military prison after refusing to board a Namer armored vehicle because a female paramedic was on board.
Three other soldiers who supported them received five-day prison sentences. Other members of the platoon face additional disciplinary action.
The soldiers, who study at hesder yeshivas, said they refused for religious reasons, following guidance from rabbis at their yeshivas. The brigade rabbi had ruled that they could board the vehicle because the mission was urgent, but they refused. The planned operation was subsequently canceled.
The entire platoon was placed under restriction and barred from leaving the base.
