Jerusalem, 2 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam visited the Nabatieh area of southern Lebanon on Friday as part of a tour of security, administrative, and municipal institutions in the region.

Nabatieh remains a traditional Hezbollah stronghold, but its absolute grip on the area faces unprecedented military pressure and open local dissent.

Salam said rebuilding southern Lebanon and Nabatieh, which suffered extensive damage during the fighting, is a government priority.

Salam said Lebanon needs substantial international funding for reconstruction and pledged to mobilize available resources to help residents return home and rebuild their communities.

Salam also stressed that Lebanon’s security depends on establishing “one state and one army,” calling for all parties to unite under the authority of the state.

He called for increased international pressure to secure a full Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory.
