Jerusalem Extends Protest Tent Permit for Missing Child Haymanut Kasau
Jerusalem Municipality grants a two-week extension for the protest tent of missing Ethiopian-Israeli girl Haymanut Kasau's family, showing compassion.
Jerusalem, 4 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — JERUSALEM — The Jerusalem Municipality approved a two-week extension permitting the family of missing child Haymanut Kasau to maintain their protest tent near the Supreme Court until October 22.
Kasau, an Ethiopian-Israeli girl, disappeared at age nine from a Safed reception center on February 25, 2024, while distributing municipal election flyers. City officials stated the extension reflects sensitivity toward the family’s ongoing campaign following nearly three years without answers.
In exchange, representatives withdrew a legal petition against municipal restrictions and agreed to vacate the premises by the deadline. The municipality pledged continued dialogue with the family, while organizers urged the public to visit the site to show support for the search efforts.
