Jerusalem Biennale 2026 with 42 Contemporary Art Exhibitions Opens September 24
The Jerusalem Biennale opens September 24, featuring 42 exhibitions at 21 venues exploring Jewish tradition, identity, and healing from the trauma of war.
Jerusalem, 9 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The seventh Jerusalem Biennale opens in two weeks, following three years of war, loss and deep social upheaval. Founded in 2013, the international event explores the connection between contemporary art and Jewish thought, tradition, spirituality and experience.
The 2026 Biennale will feature diverse artistic responses to Jewish and Israeli history, identity and tradition, addressing the trauma of October 7, the ongoing war and the process of healing.
This year’s theme, “From the Depths,” explores what lies beneath the surface, including memory, identity, spiritual searching and the impact of war. It examines how art can bring difficult experiences into the open and create space for reflection, healing, and renewal.
JB2026 will take place at 21 venues across Jerusalem, including the Tower of David Museum, Bible Lands Museum, Jerusalem Botanical Gardens, Ticho House, HaMiffal, and the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute.
