Jerusalem, 29 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Prof. Brian Rosen, Chief Scientist at Israel’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, reported that approximately 70 million Shekels ($23.4 million) was allocated in 2025 for research, innovation, and scientific infrastructure.
According to Rosen, in 2025, the Office’s Chief Scientist Unit allocated approximately 29.1 million Shekels ($9.7 million) for applied research, alongside approximately 19 million Shekels for the Electrochemical Storage Institute and the Fusion Institute, and approximately 22 million Shekels for the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) and the Geophysical Institute. As part of the unit’s activities, 42 R&D studies in industry and academia were selected, as well as 24 outstanding students who received support totaling approximately 1 million Shekels.
He also noted that in 2025, the installation of equipment at the Electrochemical Storage Institute at Bar Ilan University was completed, and at the same time, first-of-its-kind equipment was ordered for the Technion Institute, which will allow energy researchers to test new materials at the atomic scale in 3D.
