Jerusalem, 7 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — JERUSALEM — Israel’s Ministry of Welfare and Social Affairs is currently supporting roughly 5,000 individuals impacted by the October 7 attacks, including festival survivors, returned hostages, and bereaved families, officials confirmed Wednesday.

Operating through its specialized Iron Swords Division, the agency manages customized assistance for 2,000 immediate relatives, covering emotional therapy, financial aid, housing placement, and legal rights advocacy. Data shows 33% of first-degree relatives receiving care are under 21, while 18% are elderly.

The ministry also continues to provide long-term holistic care for 20 minors who lost both parents during the attacks, coordinating rehabilitation services alongside municipal social welfare departments and non-governmental aid organizations nationwide.
