TPS: Nitinotes Begins Clinical Trial of Automated Obesity Treatment Technology in Italy
Israeli company Nitinotes began its EASE clinical trial in Rome, Italy, evaluating the EndoZip automated suturing system for endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty.
Jerusalem, 16 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israeli medical device company Nitinotes announced Tuesday the first procedures in its EASE clinical trial at Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS in Rome, Italy.
The study is evaluating the safety and effectiveness of Nitinotes’ EndoZip automated suturing system for endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty, a minimally invasive obesity treatment. The Italian hospital had already been performing commercial EndoZip procedures following the system’s CE Mark approval and is now participating in the trial to support Nitinotes’ U.S. regulatory pathway. The procedures were performed by Prof. Ivo Boskoski, a gastroenterologist and advanced endoscopy specialist.
Nitinotes, based in Caesarea, said the trial will contribute to clinical evidence for its automated gastric remodeling technology.
