TPS: Israeli Committee Recommends Expanding Natural Gas Exploration and Exports
Israel's Inter-ministerial Committee recommends expanding natural gas exploration and exports to boost domestic production, secure energy needs, and enhance.
Jerusalem, 17 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Inter-ministerial Committee for Examining natural gas Sector Policy and Enhancing Energy Security published its final report, recommending expanded natural gas exploration to boost both domestic production and exports.
The committee called for encouraging investment in new offshore and onshore gas reserves, maintaining stable consumer prices through increased competition, and strengthening Israel’s international standing by opening new export markets. It also emphasized securing domestic energy needs and reliability during both routine and emergency conditions.
Additional recommendations include exploring carbon capture and storage technologies to reduce emissions, and creating a permanent inter-ministerial forum to monitor implementation of the report’s findings.
