Jerusalem, 17 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics reported that the country’s unemployment rate declined to 2.8% in August 2026, down from 3.1% in July, according to seasonally adjusted labor force data for those aged 15 and over.

The labor force participation rate stood at 61.8%, slightly down from 62.2% the previous month, while the employment rate — the share of the population currently employed — was 60.0%, compared to 60.3% in July.

The figures suggest continued tightness in Israel’s labor market, with unemployment remaining near historically low levels.
