Israeli FM Saar Meets Naurus FM Ahead of Jerusalem Embassy Opening
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar hosted Nauru's FM Lionel Aingimea, as Nauru prepares to open its embassy in Jerusalem, the ninth country to do so.
Jerusalem, 6 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar released a statement saying he was “pleased to host my friend Lionel Aingimea, Vice President and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nauru,” a small Pacific island nation set to become the ninth Country to open an embassy in Jerusalem the following day.
Sa’ar described Nauru as “a friendly nation that consistently stands alongside Israel on the international stage,” saying the two discussed a range of issues aimed at strengthening bilateral relations.
“I will continue working to fortify Jerusalem’s international standing!” Sa’ar said.
