Jerusalem, 5 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Shin Bet Director David Zini called on the agency to constantly adapt to evolving security threats during a memorial ceremony Monday at Shin Bet headquarters marking the National Day of Remembrance for the October 7, 2023 massacre.

Speaking before the agency’s senior command forum and employees, Zini said responsibility extends beyond correcting past failures and requires anticipating future threats.

“The security reality is changing before our eyes,” he said. “The enemy studies us, adapts itself, and develops new capabilities and methods of operation. Therefore, we too must change, and quickly.”

Zini warned against relying on concepts simply because they worked in the past. “We must not fall in love with what we already know,” he said, urging agency personnel to question assumptions, innovate, take initiative, and identify changes before they become threats.

He pledged that the Shin Bet would continue protecting Israel with vigilance, humility, determination, and deep commitment.
