Jerusalem, 23 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Knesset Finance Committee approved nearly NIS 15 billion ($5 billion) in additional funding for Israel’s defense establishment, following months of delays over the transfer.
The package includes NIS 11.75 billion ($3.9 billion) from the state’s general reserve and NIS 3 billion ($995 million) redirected from other budget lines. The Defense Ministry has requested an additional NIS 25 billion, but no agreement has been reached on that request.
The committee also approved NIS 164 million ($54.4 million) for National Insurance payments to workers placed on unpaid leave during the war and NIS 801 million ($265.5 million) for the Finance Ministry, including NIS 630 million ($208.8 million) for businesses affected by the conflict with Iran.
