Jerusalem, 31 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Two pharmacists working at the Israel Defense Forces’ Camp Glilot have been arrested on suspicion of stealing tens of thousands of medicines intended for soldiers and selling them on the black market, authorities said Monday.
The suspects, described as veteran pharmacists employed as external suppliers by the Ministry of Defense, include the pharmacist in charge at Camp Glilot, near Tel Aviv, and another pharmacist after a months-long undercover investigation.
“Investigation materials revealed that the pharmacists fraudulently took tens of thousands of medications intended for IDF soldiers, some of them prescription medications, and systematically traded them on the ‘black market,’ pocketing tens of thousands of shekels,” the Defense Ministry, Israel Defense Forces and Israel Police said in a statement.
Authorities warned that the trafficking can endanger public health because some of the medicines require prescriptions and medical tests before use.
