Israel Police arrest lawyer suspected of systematic document forgery for drivers with revoked licenses.
Suspicion of systematic document forgery for drivers whose licenses were revoked: suspect arrested. Over the past few weeks, the Fraud and Cybercrime Unit of the Central District, in cooperation with investigators from the Traffic Division of the district, conducted a covert investigation against a lawyer in his 60s, a resident of Tayibe, who represents clients in traffic matters. According to suspicion, the lawyer forged numerous documents for drivers whose licenses were revoked, with the aim of creating a false representation before the courts, the police, and the Licensing Bureau, indicating that the drivers had surrendered their licenses and served their disqualification period – while in practice they continued to drive during the disqualification period. This morning, as the investigation moved to the overt stage, police officers arrested the suspect at his home and conducted searches at his home and office.
