Gunfire Targets Israeli-Arab Town School While Students Are Inside
Gunfire targeted a school in Jisr al-Zarqa, Israel, while students were present, sparking fear. Three suspects were arrested.
Jerusalem, 13 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — A serious shooting incident took place Sunday at a school in Jisr al-Zarqa, an Israeli-Arab town on the Mediterranean coastal plain, just north of Caesarea, while students were inside the building. No one was injured, but the gunfire resulted in moments of intense fear and panic among students and teachers.
Israel Police immediately opened an investigation into the circumstances of the shooting, and officers who arrived at the scene arrested three suspects allegedly linked to the incident. Videos circulating on social media and news sites show terrified students seeking shelter as gunshots can be heard in the background.
The shooting marks a troubling escalation in the use of violence and firearms in and around educational institutions in the town. Just weeks ago, police uncovered weapons that had been concealed inside a kindergarten compound in Jisr al-Zarqa.
