Jerusalem, 6 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Jerusalem District officials from the Land Enforcement Authority on Tuesday carried out a court-ordered demolition of an occupied five-story residential building in the A-Tur neighborhood that was constructed without a permit. The operation was conducted with assistance from the Jerusalem Police District and Border Police.
According to the authority, the property stands on land designated under the neighborhood’s master plan for public buildings rather than residential use. Allowing the building to remain would prevent the land from being used for future public needs.
Residents received repeated warnings to remove their belongings and comply with the demolition order. Legal proceedings had been exhausted, with the order considered by all relevant judicial instances.
The authority pledged to continue enforcing planning and building laws and carrying out court orders against illegal construction.
