Medtronic Invests in Israels Pi-Cardia, Eyes Potential Acquisition

Jerusalem, 1 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Irish healthcare technology company Medtronic announced it will invest up to $80 million in Pi-Cardia, an Israeli medical device company based in Rehovot.

The deal gives Medtronic an option to acquire Pi-Cardia for up to $210 million upfront, plus potential additional payments tied to future milestones. Medtronic is also expected to become the exclusive global distributor of Pi-Cardia’s ShortCut device in 2027. The device is designed for use in certain transcatheter aortic valve replacement procedures where patients face a risk of coronary artery blockage.

The agreement is subject to regulatory approval and other closing conditions.
