Jerusalem, 5 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — JERUSALEM — A sweeping enforcement crackdown across northern Israel revealed that 57% of audited businesses failed to record income, the Israel Tax Authority announced.

Inspectors from the National Bookkeeping Audit Unit targeted 161 businesses across Haifa, Netanya, Nazareth, and the Golan Heights, finding 93 non-compliant operations. Violations included unrecorded transactions via cash, bank transfers, and digital payment apps, alongside breaches of the Law for the Reduction of Cash Use.

Notable infractions involved a TikTok-advertising wholesaler hiding tens of thousands of shekels and a Golan Heights garage concealing 136,000 NIS ($36,000 USD). Tax officials affirmed that rigorous field operations will continue to combat the shadow economy and enforce legal compliance.
