Light Sentences for Palestinians Who Torched Familys Caravan in Judea and Samaria
Three Palestinians were sentenced to over five years in prison for a 2021 firebomb attack in Oz Zion, Judea and Samaria, injuring two teens.
Jerusalem, 23 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Three Palestinians who threw Molotov cocktails into a caravan in the Oz Zion outpost in Judea and Samaria, while four people were sleeping inside, were sentenced to five years and 10 months in prison.
The attack took place in April 2021, when the three men from Burqa selected a caravan and hurled a firebomb through a window, setting the caravan ablaze. The attack left two teenagers lightly injured from smoke inhalation and caused extensive damage to the structure and property. The court found that they likely knew people were inside.
Military prosecutors had sought 14-year sentences; however, the military court ruled that the prosecution had not established a clear nationalistic motive.
The defendants were convicted of aggravated intentional injury as part of a plea agreement.
The court also ordered each defendant to pay 5,000 shekels ($1,660) in compensation. Military prosecutors are considering an appeal.
