Jerusalem, 15 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel launched its new National Service operational year on Monday, deploying approximately 1,600 male and female volunteers across key bodies within the Ministry of National Security.

The personnel will serve in critical roles, including the Israel Police, Israel Fire and Rescue Services, The Israel Prison Service, the Witness Protection Authority, and the Child Online Protection Bureau (Hotline 105). The initiative, run in partnership with the National-Civilian Service Authority, focuses on integrating diverse demographics—including Arab and Haredi communities—into public safety frameworks.

Ministry officials noted that the program provides professional training to support expanding operational roles, with a portion of volunteers eventually transitioning into permanent civilian staff positions.
