Israeli security forces have arrested four Israeli citizens in northern Israel, foiling a planned shooting attack targeting soldiers in Karmiel.

Jerusalem, 23 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israeli security authorities announced that a planned shooting Attack in the northern city of Karmiel was foiled following a joint operation by the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) and the Israel Police.

Four Israeli citizens from northern Israel were arrested, including Ahmed Sarhan, 19, Muhammad Khalil, 18, and two minors. Investigators found that the group had conspired to carry out a shooting attack targeting soldiers in Karmiel, with some of the suspects reportedly undergoing training as part of the preparations.

Indictments are expected to be filed on Monday by the Haifa District Attorney’s Office.
