Yesh Atid Founding MK Meir Cohen Wont Seek Reelection

Yesh Atid founding MK Meir Cohen is stepping down from Knesset, choosing to lead the party's convention and allow for new leadership.

Jerusalem, 31 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Yesh Atid MK Meir Cohen has decided not to seek reelection on the party’s B’Yachad list in the October 27 primary, saying he wants to make room for the party’s next generation.

Cohen, a founding member of Yesh Atid, will instead become chairman and president of the party’s convention, its central internal representative body. Cohen previously served as mayor of Dimona and twice as welfare minister, and spent 25 years working in education.
