Finance Minister Smotrich has given Prime Minister Netanyahu 24 hours to remove 40 monuments dedicated to terrorists across Judea and Samaria.

Politics

Jerusalem, 30 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich sent a strongly worded letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu following Netanyahu’s response to the demolition of a monument by MK Zvi Sukkot.

Netanyahu condemned Sukkot’s unauthorized destruction of a Palestinian monument in the village of Madama, and called such actions “unacceptable,” saying they undermine security and distract the IDF from fighting terrorism and incitement. He stressed that the IDF is the sovereign authority in the West Bank.

In his letter, Smotrich presented a list of 40 monuments across Judea and Samaria dedicated to terrorists, and demanded that Netanyahu immediately instruct the IDF to remove all of the monuments within 24 hours. He said there has so far been no clear or comprehensive policy for dealing with the issue.

“I am convinced that you will do so,” Smotrich wrote in closing.
