Jerusalem, 7 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Large protests are expected Thursday in Jerusalem and the Tel Aviv area following the recent arrests of Haredi draft evaders.

The demonstrations were announced by the Jerusalem Faction after several yeshiva students were arrested by military authorities in recent days.

Organizers said the protests would begin at 4 p.m. and would be held in Jerusalem and the Gush Dan region. The Committee to Save the Torah World called for mass demonstrations, saying the arrests constitute an affront to Torah scholars.

The announcement follows a confrontation in Modi’in earlier this week, when more than 1,500 Haredi protesters gathered during an attempt by Military Police to arrest a draft evader. Police were called to the scene after protesters blocked officers from leaving the building.
