The National Education Association is accused of retaliating against a Jewish member who reported antisemitism, denying his accommodation request.

Jerusalem, 16 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Louis D. Brandeis Center Coalition to Combat Anti-Semitism has filed a supplemental Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) statement accusing the National Education Association (NEA) of retaliating against a Jewish member-delegate who reported antisemitic harassment at the union’s 2025 and 2026 Representative Assemblies.

According to the filing, the member photographed a delegate’s shirt for personal, disability-related reasons because of his vision impairment, then deleted the image when asked. Weeks later, after filing a harassment complaint on behalf of his husband, who allegedly was targeted with a slur at a pro-Jewish rally, NEA counsel accused him of violating union rules, denied his accommodation request, and issued a written warning.

The coalition says NEA acknowledged no other delegate was disciplined for similar photography and dismissed the harassment complaint without reviewing available surveillance footage. NEA has not publicly responded to the specific allegations.
