Jerusalem, 8 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Likud concluded a dramatic political day Tuesday by announcing the candidates personally reserved by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and their spots on the party’s slate.
Talik Guily, mother of fallen hostage Rani Guily, who was captured first and left Gaza last, was placed ninth. Right-wing commentator Yaakov Bardugo was 11th; reservist Elisha Medan, who lost both legs in Gaza, 15th; and attorney David Peter, who represented Likud and Netanyahu in major High Court battles, 16th. Former Labor MK Eli Goldschmidt was 26th, bereaved father Itzik Bontzel 29th, and Brig. Gen. (res.) Amir Avivi, founder of the security-minded Bithonistim movement, 35th.
The positions are considered “safe” if Likud and its coalition win a majority, thanks to the “Norwegian Law,” which allows ministers and deputy ministers to resign as MKs, bringing in the next candidates on their party list to handle parliamentary work.
